RECAP: CHIEVO VERONA 1-0 FIORENTINA
Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona finally got back on the winning track at the Stadio Marc'antonio Bentegodi in Verona as the Flying Donkeys knocked off Fiorentina in Serie A action.
Domenico di Carlo was forced into a slew of changes due to injury, including two of his starting back four as Bostjan Cesar and Bojan Jokic were unable to go for the Gialloblú. Taking their place were Marco Andreollí and Boukary Dramé. Not the most ideal of conditions for Chievo as they came into the match in the midst of a five game winless streak.
The elements, too, were not cooperating as the field was soaked due to incessant rain that had been failing in northern Italy for the better part of the last week.
The best chance of the first half came in the 43rd minute as Davide Moscardelli took a free kick from 22 yards out, just to the right of the box, but his well struck shot only made it as far as Fiorentina keeper Artur Boruc, who punched it away to safety.
The game's only goal came in the 69th minute as Moscardelli flicked on Luciano's cross to diminutive midfielder Luca Rigoni, who cut the ball back to the middle past keeper Boruc with his chest before volleying a right-footed shot home.
Fiorentina was forced to risk more numbers forward in the pursuit of an equalizer, which in turn provided Chievo with plenty of space to counter. Chievo's Finnish midfielder Perparim Hetemaj nearly put the game to bed two minutes from time, but his effort was foiled by the crossbar.
Up next for Chievo is an away game at Catania on the 19th of November.
