RECAP: SLOVENIA 2 - 3 USA
On a cold and foggy night Ljubljana, the United States defeated Slovenia after scoring all their goals in the first half.
Entering into the game, the United States had only scored two goals in six games since Jurgen Klinsman was hired as head coach.
The United States did not take long to get on the board when they took advantage of a poor play by Slovenian keeper Samir Handanovic. On the play, Handanovic rolled the ball forward but Dempsey broke up the pass. The ball fell to Edson Buddle who controlled quickly and fired home a shot from 20 yards.
Slovenia equalized in the 26th minute when Tim Matavz caught the US backline off-guard and moved in alone against Tim Howard and he fired it over the sliding American keeper to even the score at 1-1.

The US earned a two goal cushion right before the half when left back Timothy Chandler found Fabian Johnson in the box. Johnson quickly turned towards goal and was tripped up by Slovenia's Marko Suler.
On the ensuing penalty, Jozy Altidore stepped up and fired it to the right side past Handanovic who guessed the wrong direction.
In the second half, Slovenia turned up the pressure and narrowed the deficit to 3-2 when Matavz received the ball in the box and dribbled the ball around Kyle Beckerman before sending a low shot past Howard.
The US would eventually regain their composure and kill off the remainder of the game to give Klinsmann his first win on the road as US head coach.
