RECAP: VELEZ MOSTAR 3-0 SLOBODA TUZIA
American forward Danijal Brkovic went the distance and scored his first ever Bosnian Premier Liga goal for Velez as they cruised to a 3-0 win against Sloboda Tuzia at Stadion Vrapčići on Saturday.
Brokvic has firmly earned a place in the club's starting lineup after a strong month for Velez.
In the week before the international window, he scored his first ever professional goal in the Bosnian Cup. During the international window, he scored a hat trick in a club friendly.
Damir Rovčanin opened the scoring for Velez in the 42nd minute when he converted a penalty to make the score 1-0.
In the 73rd minute it was Brkovic who gave the hosts a 2-0 lead when he took a long pass from Eldar Hasanovic and got behind Sloboda's defense. He then dribbled past goalkeeper Denis Mujkic and slammed it home for the two goal lead.
In the 88th minute, Velez put the game out of reach when Goran Stokic crossed the ball in from the right side and Sefko Okic scored from close range for a 3-0 lead.
The win now puts Velez into eighth place in the Bosnian Premier League with 18 points through 14 games.
On Wednesday, Velez will face cross-town rivals Branitelj Mostar in the second leg of their Bosnian Cup matchup. Velez are carrying a 2-0 lead heading into the game.
Next weekend, Velez return to Premier Liga action when they visit eleventh place GOSK Gabela.
