RECAP: CHIEVO VERONA 0 - 0 ATALANTA
Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona had to settle for a point against Atalanta in front of their home fans in a defensive stalemate that was sparse on offense.
Bradley went the distance in Chievo's midfield for the eleventh straight game for the Flying Donkeys.
On display in the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi on Sunday was a classic Italian Catenaccio battle, with both teams content to defend in the hope of catching their respective opponents out on the counter attack.
As a result, the match lacked offensive fireworks with each team coming close once.
In the 52nd minute, Atalanta's top goal-getter Denis, who has already found the back of the net ten times this season, almost scored on an acrobatic effort after he reacted quicker than his marker off of a deflected corner. But his scissor-kick volley from point-blank range was parried by Chievo keeper Stefano Sorrentino.
Chievo's chance at snagging a winner came in the 75th minute as Brazilian midfielder Luciano sent in an out-swinging cross from the left flank that found Italian Sergio Pellisier three yards out. But the Italian striker narrowly missed the target, nodding the ball over the bar.
The tie leaves Verona in 11th place with 16 points. Up next for the Mussi Volanti is an away date at third-place Udinese.
