RECAP: WEEKEND SCOTTISH ACTION
Carlos Bocanegra scored in Rangers' win over Inverness but both Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya were early subs in the lackluster win.
Rangers 2 - 1 Inverness CT
Carlos Bocanegra was on the score sheet as Rangers picked up a crucial win after a poor performance at Ibrox Stadium.
The 43,000 at Ibrox Stadium were dissapointed with the performance put forth by their home team, even though they pushed out a win. Carlos Bocanegra was on the end of a good move that started at the foot of Lee Wallace. His ball into the box was cushioned down by the chest of Nikica Jelavic where the American slammed home from close range.
Both Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya were substituted in the first seven minutes of the second half, with Edu making way at half time for Lee McCulloch. Rangers gave up an equalizer in the 67th minute as Gregory Tade flew down the left wing. Tade was able to pick out former Rangers man Andrew Shinnie who side footed past Allan McGreggor from eight yards out.
Rangers were able to push on to get the winner as Kyle Lafferty, who came on for Bedoya in the 52nd minute, grabbed the game winner. The advantage was to the away team when Rangers broke on the counter attack. Steven Davis sent Lafferty through and the striker slipped his shot past Ryan Esson with skill.
Bocanegra, Lafferty, and McCulloch were all booked for Rangers as Lee Cox and Richie Foran picked up yellow cards for Inverness. Up next for Rangers is an away visit to St. Mirren.
Dominic Cervi and Greenock Morton will have to take on Hamilton as the game was postponed due to a frozen field.
