ANDREW VORCE - Thursday, December 29, 2011
Maurice Edu started from the bench as Carlos Bocanegra and Rangers fell narrowly to their bitter rivals at Celtic Park.

The first half was less than desirable, mostly due the to raging winds sweeping through the stadium causing debris to litter the field. The wind made even the simple things, like taking a corner kick, a difficult task.

Celtic only needed to score once to leapfrog Rangers to the top of the Scottish Premier League, a goal which came in the 52nd minute. Another corner proved to be the demise of Rangers, this time whipped in with precision. Joe Ledley only needed to keep his eye on the ball as Kirk Broadfoot missed his defensive header. Ledley's goal was the difference maker as Celtic held on to the three points.

Edu was only given the final 12 minutes of the game. Bocanegra was in a scoring position in the 22nd minute, only to send his effort over the bar. The American defender was booked in the second half for bringing down Gary Hooper.

Rangers will be looking to bounce back against Motherwell on Monday.
