US SOCCER AND CABRERA PART WAYS
BRIAN SCIARETTA - Tuesday, January 3, 2012
It was announced today that US Soccer and US U-17 national team head coach Wilmer Cabrera have parted ways by mutual agreement.

Cabrera was named US U-17 head coach in the fall of 2007. He coached the United States in two U-17 World Cups in 2009 and 2011 where the US were defeated each time in the round of 16.

Cabrera will continue to coach the U-17 team through January which will include a trip to Turkey. US Soccer also announced that a search for Cabrera's successor is underway.

With Cabrera leaving US Soccer it marks a complete turnaround for the program at every level since last year. In 2011 Tab Ramos was hired to coach the US U-20 team, Richie Williams was hired as U-18 national team head coach, Caleb Porter was named the head coach for the US U-23 team, and Jurgen Klinsmann was hired to coach the senior national team.
