Today it was announced that FC Dallas George John will join West Ham United on loan but the English Championship club will have an option to buy the US national team central defender.

John, 24, will be loaned to West Ham until March first and the club will have until March 1 to decide if they want to purchase him on a full transfer.

Should West Ham exercise their right to purchase, the deal will then run through the 2014-2015 season with the club holding an additional option for one more year.

"George John is heading to West Ham on loan with an option to buy," West Ham agent Ted Philipakos told YA. "They have until March 1 to decide to buy him."

John will not play this weekend for West Ham in their game against Portsmouth. He currently holds a Greek passport so is eligible for a work permit.

West Ham currently sit in second place in the Championship and are contenders to be promoted this year.
