DISKERUD NEGOTIATING WITH GENT
Oslo-born American international Mikkel Diskerud may be on the move before the close of the transfer window with Gent of the Belgian Pro League the likely destination.
"We are in negotiations," Michel Louwagie of KAA Gent told Yanks Abroad this afternoon. And that is all he would say refusing to comment any further
The 21-yeaer-old Diskerud, who joined Stabęk's youth team back in 1995, has played in the US youth system after stating that he would play for either Norway or the USA, depending on who approached him first. Diskerud's mother was born in Arizona, making him a dual-citizen.
His current club Stabaek have fallen on hard times financially and now most of the top players are looking to leave.
The midfielder has also been capped twice for the US Senior Team, with his first apperance coming as a substitute against South Africa in November 2010.
If Diskerud signs with Gent, a team coached by former Norwegian international Trond Sollied, he will face fellow American Sacha Kljestan and Anderlecht in the league play-offs.
