RECAP: NOVARA 1 - 2 CHIEVO VERONA
SCOTT PETERSON - Saturday, February 4, 2012
Michael Bradley and Chievo Verona were victorious and kept last place Novara at the bottom of the Serie A standings in Thursday-night action.

There was some doubt as to whether Bradley and his Flying Donkeys would suit up and play as a slew of mid-week games had already been cancelled due to inclement weather throughout Italy. The Veronans will surely be pleased that the elements cooperated as they thoroughly dominated their opponents for an away win.

In the 32 minute, Sergio Pellissier took advantage of a bad field and worse defending to get onto the end of Boukary Dramé's bounding cross before pummeling the ball into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The visitors then doubled their lead in the 33rd minute of the second half as Frenchman Cyril Thereau finished off an impressive move, as Alberto Paloschi and Pellisier connected on some quick passes in the box to cut open Novara's backline and provide Thereau with an easy tap-in.

Novara did get a consolation goal in the 78th minute when Guiseppe Mascara headed home a cross from the left past Chievo keeper Stefano Sorrentino.

Despite conceding the late goal, Chievo never really looked threatened and got a much deserved three points away from home.

The win gives Chievo 24 points - 8 above the dreaded drop zone. Chievo will have to deal with some tired legs as they conclude a hectic week when Parma comes to town on Sunday.
