RECAP: WEEKEND NORWEGIAN ACTION
Steve Clark and Hønefoss recorded their first loss of the season, while Molde's Joshua Gatt made an appearance for the first time in almost a month.
Rosenborg Trondheim 3 - 1 Stabæk IF
Stabæk allowed three goals within a 10-minute span against Rosenborg, extending its losing streak to six games. American defender Sean Cunningham and midfielder Ricardo Clark each started and played the full 90 minutes for Stabæk.
It was mostly one-way traffic in the first half in favor of Rosenborg, who despite having the majority of chances, squandered each of them.
Clark had Stabæk's best scoring chance in the 29th minute. He reared back and shot from 32 yards out, and his blast had to be pushed over the bar by Rosenborg goalkeeper Daniel Örlund.
In the 70th minute, Rosenborg finally broke through. Fredrik Midtsjø stepped in front of a Stabæk defender to pick up Borek Dockal's low cross from the right. Midtsjø turned around and shot the ball into the left-hand corner of the goal.
Rosenborg added to its lead in the 75th minute, when Stabæk goalkeeper Jan Kjell Larsen fumbled Dockal's low shot from 20 yards out. The ball went off Larsen's hands and into the lower right corner of the net.
With the flood gates open, Rosenborg caught Stabæk going forward and launched a successful counter in the 80th minute. Jonas Svensson put the ball into the top left corner from 11 yards after receiving the pass from Midtsjø.
Franck Boli put Stabæk on the board in the 86th minute, when he was unmarked on Bjarni Olafur Eiriksson's low pass into the box. With one touch from seven yards out, he gave the visiting fans something to cheer.
Stabæk returns to action in the Norwegian Cup Wednesday against third tier squad Fana.
Sandnes Ulf 1 - 0 Hønefoss
Hønefoss' unbeaten streak to start the season ended at six after its loss to Sandnes Ulf Sunday.
American goalkeeper Steve Clark started and played the entire match for Hønefoss. Kenneth di Vita Jensen did not make the lineup.
Sandnes opened the scoring the 43rd minute, when Kamal Saaliti sent a cross that deflected off captain Frode Lafton in the six-yard box and drifted past Clark just inside the right post.
It turned out to be enough for Sandnes, who held on to record the shutout.
With the loss, Hønefoss dropped to ninth place with 10 points through seven games.
Hønefoss returns to action in the second round of the Norwegian Cup against Nybergsund Wednesday.
Molde FK 2 - 1 Aalesunds FK
Molde picked up an important three points Sunday night at home to Aalesund.
American winger Joshua Gatt played 34 minutes, entering in the 56th minute as a substitute. This marked his first game action since March 9 because of a muscle strain.
Running along the right wing, Mattias Moström picked up a pass and chipped over goalkeeper Sten Grytebust from nine yards out. The ball drifted just under the crossbar and into the top right corner.
Aalesund equalized in the 38th minute, as Daniel Arnefjord jumped in front of Molde defender Martin Linnes to meet Michael Barrantes's cross. Arnefjord headed home from five yards out.
In the 59th minute, Magne Hoseth gave Molde the lead back, when he converted a penalty. It proved to be the game-winning goal, as Aalesund didn't challenge Molde goalkeeper Espen Bugge Pettersen in the second half.
With the win, Molde leapfrogged to seventh place, four points behind leaders Strømsgodset.
Molde returns to action Wednesday in the second round of the Norwegian Cup against Verdal.
