2011/12 YA AWARDS

The 2011/12 season is now in the history books but the YA staff takes one last look back and hands out its awards to some American players.

Vote for your top three YA's of 2011/12 season

1) Clint Dempsey - became the best American goal scorer in the English Premier League and in all of Europe
2) Michael Bradley - quietly put on consistently strong performances with Chievo Verona an set himself up for a big transfter.
3) Fabian Johnson - as a midfielder he was one of the Bundesliga leaders in assists. Then when he moved to left back, he was one of the best in Germany.

Vote for your top three YA storylines of 2011/12 season

1) Clint Dempsey amazing scoring run setting a record for Americans in Europe
2) 2012 US U-23 team fails to qualify for the Olympics
3) Michael Parkhurst and Nordsjaelland win Denmark and qualify for the Champions League group stages.

Vote for your top three YA players who have set themselves up for a breakout next season

1) Terrence Boyd - Now on Rapid Vienna, the stage is set for the young US international to show what he can do at the club level.
2) Andrew Wooten - After impressing at the end of the season with Kaiserslautern, Wooten should earn regular minutes with the club in the 2.Bundesliga.
3) Joe Gyau - Fresh after signing a new two year contract with Hoffenheim, Gyau is poised to begin earning his first Bundesliga minutes in 2012/13

Vote for your top three young YA's of 2011/12 season (young being 23 or under)

1) Jozy Altidore - It's amazing to think that Altidore is still under 23 but he is. Now with a nice season at AZ Alkmaar, he will aim to dominate the Eredivisie.
2) Joe Corona - Corona impressed in his first season in the Mexican Primera. Now he will look to establish himself as one of the better mids in the league.
3) Josh Gatt - Gatt has phenomenal speed and helped Molde win their first ever Norwegian title. Now he will look to build up his transfer value to move to a higher league.

1) Jozy Altidore's 35 yard stunner vs. Malmo
2) Josh Gatt run against Valerenga
3) Clint Dempsey's free kick against Bolton

Vote for your top three "under the radar" YA's of the 2011/12 season

1) Bryan Gerzicich at Hapoel Kiryat Shmona - He is now the best defensive midfielder in the Israeli Premier League.
2) Conor O'Brien at Sonderjyske - Quietly impressing in the Danish Superliga.
3) Steve Clark at Honefoss - becoming a very solid goalkeeper in Norway. He helped his team to promotion and now is off to a good start in the top flight.

Vote for your top three MLS players you want to see move abroad

1) Chris Pontius - Pontius is one of the best attacking players in the league but at 25, he should test himself more.
2) Brek Shea - Shea has struggled but still he is a good wing player and the US needs wingers. He should move overseas to continue his improvement.
3) CJ Sapong - A very good target forward that would be an asset to some European club. Sapong is one of the stronger players in his position.
