CAMERON ON VERGE OF JOINING STOKE
Major League Soccer and Stoke have agreed to a transfer price for Houston central defender Geoff Cameron and personal terms are now close.
"The transfer price is now agreed to," a source told YA on Friday. "The personal terms between Geoff Cameron and Stoke are now almost complete."
The source also added that Cameron, 27, is set to travel to England on either Friday or Saturday to join Stoke. Also, the tentative date for his British work permit appeal hearing is August 3.
Since Cameron does not qualify for a British work permit by not playing in 75% of the US national team's official games over the last two years, he must win one on appeal. Several Americans have had success in recent years in the UK winning a permit on appeal. Tim Ream won one earlier this year. In the recent past, Robbie Rogers, Alejandro Bedoya, and Robbie Findley have all been successful in securing a permit.
Cameron has spent his entire professional career with the Houston Dynamo since he was drafted in 2008. Stoke City finished last season in 14th place in the English Premier League.
