DISKERUD JOINS ROSENBORG
After a week of speculation, American midfielder Mikkel Diskerud has finally joined Rosenborg on a new deal that will run through the end of the 2012 season.
Diskerud, 21, has been in Stabaek organization ever since he was just 14 years old. He made his professional debut in 2008 and played in a Champions League qualifier in 2009.
With a financial crisis hitting the club in 2012, Diskerud went on loan to Gent for the second half of the Belgian season but only managed to play in two league games. Earlier this summer, Gent announced they would not exercise their option to buy.
"We have brought [Mix] Diskerud here on a deal through the end of the 2012 season," Rosenborg press officer Harald Pedersen told YA on Wednesday.
Rosenborg are historically the most powerful team in Norway and have won 22 Norwegian league titles and nine Norwegian Cups in their history. In the current 2012 season, they sit in third place with 33 points through 18 games. They trail second place Molde by two points and leaders Stromgodset by six points.
Diskerud's debut could come this Sunday when Rosenborg visit 13th place Sogndal.
