US U-20 goalkeeper Cody Cropper has signed a two year deal with Premier League club Southampton and the club has an option for a third year.

"The deal has been signed and Cody is now with Southampton," a source close to the player told YA today.

Cropper was previously with Ispwich and was on the verge of getting first team appearances but he suffered a knee injury last December and missed most of the second half of the season. As a result, he parted ways with the club in May.

A work permit is not necessary for Cropper since he also holds a UK passport through is father.

In addition to club soccer, Cropper is the starting goalkeeper for the United States U-20 World Cup team after also taking part in the 2011 cycle.
