PREVIEW: WEEKEND DUTCH ACTION
Jozy Altidore and AZ hope to get back on track against ADO while Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond Sport tangle with Sparta Rotterdam in a showdown between two of the Eerste Divisie's top teams.
ADO Den Haag - AZ
Jozy Altidore and AZ look to rebound from a disappointing loss last weekend when they face ADO Den Haag on Saturday.
After stringing together consecutive wins for the first time all season, AZ were outdone by last place VV Venlo last Sunday.
Altidore, who had provided two goals and two assists in AZ's back-to-back wins, was largely anonymous against Venlo. Overall, the big Floridian has been fantastic for AZ this season. Altidore's eight league goals are good enough for third in the Eredivisie.
Eighth-place Den Haag could make it difficult for AZ's attacking corps on Sunday. The host's have allowed the six fewest goals in the league this year, while only letting in one over the last three games.
Gino Coutinho won't suit up for Den Haag with an injury, while Fernando Lewis and Maarten Martens will miss the game for AZ.
Sparta Rotterdam - Helmond Sport
Charles Kazlauskas and Helmond travel to face Sparta Rotterdam on Friday.
Both clubs have established themseleves amongst the Eerste Divisie's elite early on. Helmond are currently in second place with 22 points while Sparta sit two spots behind them with 21 points.
After starting the year with five straight wins, Helmond hadn't won since mid-September until last weekend. Kazlauskas contributed a beautiful goal on a left-footed volley from the top of the box to help Helmond beat Cambuur.
Sparta have also stumbled recently, losing two of their last three matches, getting shutout on both occasions.
Things are looking much better for Helmond on the injury front. Leading scorers Emrullah Guvenc and Sebastian Stachnik both made their return from an injury induced hiatus' against Cambuur last weekend.
Mees Siers and Erik Quekel are Helmond's only two players in question for the match, while Sparta are not reporting any injuries.
