RECAP: WEEKEND ISRAELI ACTION
Bryan Gerzicich was the only American featured in Israeli this weekend as the champions fought to a draw with Hapoel Ramat Gan.
Hapoel Ramat Gan 1 - 1 Ironi Kiryat Shmona
Bryan Gerzicich and the Blue Lions could not hold on for the victory as they visited Ramat Gan on Sunday.
The defending champions scored first when a cross found a rising Shir Tzedek, who headed it past Ramat Gan goalie Itai Arkin.
The guests had several opportunities to score a second but were unable to make the most of their chances. The best chance came in the 52nd minute, when midfielder Dan Einbender missed an open net and allowed Ramat Gan to hang around.
In the 75th minute, Miran Burgič got ahead of the Shmona defense on an excellent through-ball from substitute Israel Zaguri and found the back of the net for the equalizer.
With the draw, the teams find themselves in a tie for 12th place in the league. The road does not get any easier for Shmona, as a trip to third place Hapoel Tel Aviv awaits.
Leonard Krupnik did not feature in his second straight game for Maccaibi Netanya as they were thumped 3-0 by Bnei Yehuda. They will host Ironi Ramat HaSharon on Friday, November 16.
Ryan Adeleye has yet to see the field for Be'er Sheva this season. His team drew with second place Ashdod this weekend.
