USMNT TO HOST CANADA
The US national team will open their busy 2013 calendar with a friendly against Canada on January 29 at Houston's BBVA Compass Stadium.
The game was announced by US Soccer on Monday.
The game against Canada will mark the end of the annual January camp and serve as preparation for the opening of the hexagonal final round of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying. Canada has already been eliminated from World Cup qualifying but the United States will open in the next round on February 6 with a visit to Honduras.
The two teams last met in June when they played to a 0-0 draw in Toronto.
The annual January camp often features players from MLS and European leagues like Denmark, Sweden, and Norway with long winter breaks. Last year's January camp proved to be an important stepping stone for Graham Zusi and Geoff Cameron who are now national team regulars.
Last year the US team played two friendlies to conclude the January camp but this game will be the only friendly prior to the World Cup qualifier against Honduras.
