Former SV Kapfenberg striker Preston Zimmerman is currently on trial with 3. Bundesliga club Jahn Regensburg with the hope of returning to Germany following his stint in Austria.
"[Preston] Zimmerman is currently training with the team," press chief Harry Freiter told YA on Thursday.
The 20-year old American scored three goals in 17 appearances during his time in Austria. Zimmerman, who hails from Pasco, Washington, is a free transfer following his departure from Kapfenberg and is currently in Bavaria.
"He's not signed a contract yet," Freiter continued. "He will be training with the team today and tomorrow, then will play in a test match on Saturday."
The club is playing a preseason match against Mainz II on the weekend, a match in which the former Hamburg striker hopes will lead to a contract offer from German head coach Markus Weinzierl.
"The trainer will make a decision after that." |
