HILL ADDRESSES LOAN INTEREST
John Kretlow - Monday, January 25, 2010
American forward Kamani Hill has confirmed recent reports that Vitória Guimarães are looking to loan him out to another Portuguese team.

The Berkeley, California native joined Guimarães in May of 2009 after beginning his professional career for VfL Wolfsburg of the Bundesliga in 2006. Hill has played for U.S. Youth National Teams and received his first senior team cap in 2007.

The former UCLA standout explained that a couple clubs took an interest in bringing him in on loan, but that an agreement could never be reached.

"A few first division teams expressed interest but nothing concrete came from the negotiations," Hill told Yanks Abroad. The 24-year-old went on to mention that his coach, Paulo Sergio, wants Hill to have more competition before being included in the first team.

Since joining the northern Portuguese club, Hill has seen limited playing time and added that he would welcome a change.

"I would really like to get some games under my belt because I still haven't had the chance to prove myself here in Europe and I think it could be good for my career," said Hill.

No team in particular has been mentioned as a possible destination, but Hill is open to two possibilities. "I would be happy to go and play on a first division club or a good club in the second division," said the American.

If the young forward does not switch teams, Hill is still positive about his chances with Guimarães.

"If no loan materializes that I feel is a good situation for me then my plan is to stay here and continue to work every day and wait for my opportunity. I know I have the support of the club so I hope things fall into place," concluded Hill.

I always thought Hill had a good technical ability but never seems to get the chance to prove himself. I know the current coach at Vitoria wasn't the one who brought him in.
