IGWE ON TRIAL AT AALBORG
Brian Sciaretta - Tuesday, March 23, 2010
Former Under-20 defender Amaechi Igwe is on trial with Danish club Aalborg BK hoping to join fellow Americans Chris Rolfe and Marcus Tracy.

"He is on trial here but just this week," Aalborg spokesman Brian Andersen told YA.

Igwe, 21, is a native of Belmont, California and has represented the US youth national teams at both the U17 and U20 levels. He was on the roster for the 2007 U20 World Cup team where he played in just one game.

After leaving Santa Clara University, Igwe was drafted by the New England Revolution in the 2007 MLS Superdraft with the 12th overall pick after signing a Generation Adidas contract. Since joining New England, he has struggled to see playing time under head coach Steve Nicol.

After making a total of 11 starts and 22 appearances with the Revolution, Igwe was waived by the club early last month.

I really hope this pans out for Igwe. I really think he has talent.
